Multimedia Equipment Policy

It is the responsibility of the Multimedia Coordinator to:

  1. purchase
  2. maintain
  3. trouble shoot
  4. store
  5. arrange for repair
  6. inventory all multimedia equipment with the exception of computer hardware and software.
Selection Responsibility
The ultimate responsibility for the selection and purchase of media equipment rests with the Multimedia Coordinator, Chip Chase. Mr. Chase is designated to facilitate the acquisition process and to serve as a liaison between the Upper and Lower School libraries and their respective faculties.

Acquisitions Criteria

  • Potential Use by National Cathedral School community
  • Price, format and physical durability
  • Availability of sufficient accompanying nonprint resources
  • Repair and maintenance record
  • Evaluation by consumer goods trade publications
  • Compatibility with present NCS equipment
Selection Responsibility
With the exception of computer hardware and software, the Multimedia Coordinator has overall responsibility for :
  1. purchasing
  2. maintaining and repairing
  3. trouble shooting
  4. scheduling
  5. storing
  6. demonstrating and instructing
  7. inventorying all media equipment
In the Lower School, however, the Lower School librarian has initial responsibility for scheduling, setup, storage and minor trouble shooting problems of Lower School Library equipment. The Lower School librarian also assumes responsibility for refresher instruction regarding specific media equipment such as VCRs and tape cassettes.

Loan Policy
During school hours, multimedia equipment is available to faculty and students (with faculty supervision) on a reserved basis. Multimedia equipment can be requested via an NCS event form if the equipment is needed as part of an event that requires other equipment like tables, chairs, etc., and sent to Laurie O'Connor. Or, if multimedia equipment is needed for classroom instruction and no other set-up is required, equipment can be requested by email to schase@cathedral.org. All multimedia equipment is reserved on a first come, first served basis and is loaned after a brief orientation process. Please submit requests with as much advanced notice as possible.

During non-school hours, multimedia equipment can be loaned to faculty members for NCS sponsored events that may occur off campus. Multimedia equipment does not leave the country, however.

Borrowers are responsible for returning equipment in good working order. Broken equipment and/or replacement of equipment is the responsibility of the borrower.

*Multimedia equipment loans are prohibited for personal use in accordance with insurance regulations.
