Policies: Archives Collection & Retrieval Policy

Purpose

To maintain a collection of important documents, papers, programs, taped performances, publications and memorabilia relevant to the National Cathedral community.

Holdings Location

NCS archives are located in Room 326, Woodley North Building. Access is via Room 324 on the third floor of Woodley North building.

Unit Responsible for Collection

Members of the Development Department are responsible for collecting, filing, storing and retrieving all archival materials.

Retrieval Responsibilities

Members of the Development Department are responsible for retrieving all non-student archival requests. Student archival requests will adhere to the following retrieval guidelines:

  1. Official NCS publications, i.e. past issues of the Discus , HIE's, directories, handbooks, etc.
  2. Documents written before 1945.
  3. The Development Department will not provide students with any archival materials not deemed in the public realm.
  4. Any student request for specific, personal archival materials concerning an individual, incident or event will be referred to Headmistress, Agnes Underwood for her consideration and final decision.
